We are independent

State Board Pass is an independent practice product made by Sava Labs Ltd. It is not made, approved, endorsed, licensed or reviewed by any of the following.

• The National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology, known as NIC
• PSI Services LLC, known as PSI
• Milady
• Pivot Point International
• The California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology
• The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
• Any other state board, licensing agency or examination company

We have no agreement of any kind with any of them. Nobody on that list has seen our questions.

We are not a state board

We are a private company. We do not issue licences, we do not take applications, we do not schedule your exam and we cannot change anything about your exam or your licence. Only your state board and the exam company it uses can do those things. If a page on this site ever reads as if it came from a board, that is our mistake, and we want to hear about it at [email protected].

Our questions are our own

Every question on State Board Pass is written by us. We write from the content outline that the exam company publishes for your state and licence, from the law and the rules of your state, and from public sources on safety, infection control, chemistry and anatomy.

We have never taken, bought, received or used a real exam question. We never will. Nobody who writes for us sits the real exam, and nobody writes a question from memory of one. California Business and Professions Code 123 makes it a crime to use questions taken from a licensing examination to prepare candidates, and we keep well away from that line. If anybody offers us real exam questions, the answer is no.

So our questions are not the questions in your exam. They cover the same topics, in the same proportions as the published outline, at a similar level. That is what practice is.

Names belong to their owners

NIC is a registered trademark of The National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology, Inc., United States registration number 3300595. PSI and the PSI logo are registered trademarks of PSI Services LLC. Milady and Pivot Point are the marks of their owners. The names of state boards and state agencies belong to those states.

We use these names for one purpose only, to say which exam you are getting ready for. There is no other way to tell you that. We use no logo, no seal and no design of any of them.

We promise no result

We do not promise that you will pass your exam. We do not promise a score, a licence or a job. We hold no data that would let us make such a promise, so we make none. What you get from State Board Pass depends on your own work.

Check the official source

Your state board and the exam company can change the exam, the content outline, the fee, the number of questions, the time and the passing score at any time. We read their published material and we update our pages, and we can still be out of date or wrong. Before you sit the exam, read the candidate bulletin for your state and your licence and treat it as the truth. Where we state an exam fact, we link to the official page it came from.

This is practice, not a course

State Board Pass is practice material. It is not a course, training, a class or a school. It gives no certificate, no diploma and no credential, and it counts for none of the hours your state requires before you apply.
